Sitting on the sand banks at Wells next the Sea
Don't Do It !!!
She has been sitting on the sand for 5 years or more, we can't wait to get her back to Scarborough.
Low water in the channel at Wells next the Sea on a typical August day.
Getting back to Scarborough was an adventure.......
- small electrical fire when we tried to get her off the mooring!
- running repairs while alongside on the pontoons
- set off after fuelling up - £200 worth and still not full!
- got half way across the mouth of the Wash and engine overheated - John forgot to tell us the sea cocks that let water round to cool the engine were not open
- jury rigged the foresail
- wind died, we were going backwards at one point
- toilet exploded (knee deep in shit!)
- water and oil delivered by Jason in Stirling Girl (cheers Jase)
- motor sailed rest of the way
- a planned 18 hour passage became a 36 hour trial of patience
......... but we made it. Delivery crew was Ivan, Angela and Tom Clark.
A Little bit of sun cream is all it needs!
Wild and Free was moored up on her new berth on the end of the pontoons, to become the biggest and scruffiest boat in the harbour.
