WELCOME

Hi. Welcome to the blog pages of Happy Daze.

Ivan and Angela plan to set sail in May, from Scarborough, on the Yorkshire East coast, on a journey around the shores of the UK and Ireland. We will head south, and will travel the right way (clockwise) around the British Isles until we get back to Scarborough, but plan to take our time and enjoy the journey.

We will have our dive kit with us, and intend to jump in and explore the inshore waters at every opportunity. It may be to look at something we know is there (a wreck?), just have a look around to see what we can find, or to get something tasty for supper!

The boat has been extensively re-fitted, and work still goes on to get her ready for the off. Since we brought the boat back from Wells-next-the-Sea she has been known as Wild and Free, but our preparations for the trip will include a re-naming ceremony, and she will be known as Happy Daze.

Please keep in touch to find out how we get on in our preparations and our journey around the coast.

Leg 13

Sorry about all the words and no pics for a while again. Not had access to a computer for a little while. Will put pic on soon as I can.

Brixham to Newton Ferrers. 10/7/10
We had a day rest in Brixham. Very hot n windless so chilled out! Up early the next day for a long trip around Start Point and beyond. A feature of RYA dayskipper and yachtmaster 'fictional' charts and there it was in real life! Very pretty cliff coastline, with deep crevasses, caves and crytal clear waters. We are motoring as usual, and later a big swell creates a confused sea that is uncomfortable but we keep going. Decide to anchor in the bay by the sand bar at the entrance of the R. Yealm then go round into the creek by tender for supper at the Dolphin pub. Creek very pretty n fish pie very tasty! The wind got up a bit at the anchorage and we end up having to re anchor (a few times!) before we are confident we will not wake up on the rocks!! At the last anchor attempt we see an amazing display of phosphoresence - worth getting up at 2.00am for I tell myself!!
